The Turkish Council of Ministers had decided to apply a safeguard measure in the form of an additional financial duty applicable for a period of three years to the imports of certain electrical kitchen appliances such as mixers and blenders on the 1st of November, 2008.
Under WTO rules tariff quotas were to be opened for developing countries. The Communiqué for the administration of these tariff quotas is published in the Official Gazette no. 27055 dated 15th of November 2008.
According to the Communiqué the licenses for benefiting from the quotas are to be distributed on a first come first serve basis. Applications will be limited to 5.000 pieces. Each application can cover only one individual country or customs regions.
